Here's my entry for the August Guest Design Team finals...and let me just say thank you so much for helping me get this far! I was shocked and super excited when I saw I made the finals. Muah xoxo to you all!
-Amy
I do a lot of work with bottlecaps, acrylic, glass and scrabble pendants and wanted to try something different using more than just beads.
I found my stash of clear buttons...

...and grabbed some scrap pieces of paper...

I glued the clear buttons to the paper using Crystal Clear Lacquer.

After it dried, I cut them out, used a file to fix some of the edges, and applied a thin layer of modge podge.

After the modge podge dried, I collected all the buttons with some fabulous vintage beads I found last weekend.

I laid out the buttons and beads in the order I wanted them on the necklace. Then, I used some thread to attach them to some vintage seam binding ribbon I had in my stash.

I sewed two buttons together, with the ribbon in between for added structure. It also makes the necklace completely reversible!
In between each set of buttons, I included one of the vintage beads. I finished it off with a simple bow and viola - an easy necklace made using items I just had in my crafty stash!

tonia - i found a huge bag of them at Archivers. Unfortunately, there isn't an Archivers near me. Only near my grandma's house... so I guess that's just another excuse to go visit gram (besides seeing her and having her fab mashed potatoes of course).
Bet you could find some on Etsy or Ebay?
