When I first started scrapbooking, I never wanted to cut up my "fancy" papers. As I've grown and my style has developed more, I find I rather enjoy finding different uses for die-cut papers.
Don't be afraid to think outside the box and to use parts of your die-cuts on your layouts and other projects... instead of just using them as the base for a layout.
I did this in one of my layouts for the Fashion Forward Kit. Using the Collage Press die cut paper, I cut it in half and made it an accent for my layout, rather than the whole background.

So, get out there and CUT UP your fancy papers! It's fun!
Congrats Mo! You had the most votes in the Happy List challenge and you also won the $5.00 coupon good toward a kit in the VP store.
Thank you to all who entered! The voting was SO close!!
One of my favorite (and best-selling) cards is my dress-shaped cards. I think they're fun and flirty and very versatile.
Here's a quick tutorial on making your own set of dress cards!
First, trace or draw your dress shape onto plain colored cardstock. I like to use a piece of 12x12 cardstock, folded in half. I can fit three dresses on each sheet of paper.

Choose your top and bottom papers and attach. I like to use a lightweight adhesive like Thermoweb's tape runner. Sometimes, I like to add a little collar to the dress, and the vintage sheet music flowers from this month's Vintage Plum kit worked PERFECTLY.
Next, I added a belt. Sometimes I use paper for this and other times I use ribbon or string. It's a great way to cover up any blemishes you may have incurred at the waistline.

Then, I used some thin red thread and wrapped around the front of the card, leaving enough for a little extra at the knot. I also used a clear acrylic button with one of the diecuts for a broach.

Finally, I attached the button using clear lacquer and inked the edges of the dress. The finished product is a cute one-of-a-kind dress card.

We've decided the BOM challenges would be seperate from our normal challenges. I will post a BOM challenge here in the blog every Wednesday
This weeks challenge is all about the day you were born. Tell the story of the wonderful day you entered this world :) If you don't know the story of your birth you can always include other tidbits like what was going on in the news around that time.
Here's my example ( minus journaling.. there's a part of the story I forget and have to ask my mom lol )
Can't wait to see your pages!!

So Michelle and I were introduced to the new Sticky Back Canvas made by Claudine Hellmuth for Ranger.
(she was the one that cleverly came up with 'bringing sticky back') hahah
There are so many things you can do with this product!!! I actually have her paintbrushes and gesso in the studio line as well. They do NOT disappoint. It is so much fun to work with them.
Click on the link below to watch a neat video, the lady briefly goes over all the things you can do with the canvas and the gesso. They also show you how to make beautiful fabric pins!

Here are some of the things I have created with this line so far.

The ladies above were cut out of sewing pattern packages. They were then coated with a light layer of gesso on the back (dipping the paintbrush in water first), laid on the sticky back canvas. Then, laying down another coat ontop and around the images, adhering them to the canvas. You can leave the edges plain or ink them to make them pop. On my text balloons, I even took my fingernail and pulled at the threads of the canvas to distress them somewhat.

Here is where I actually put the canvas in my printer and printed on it! So awesome!!!

This is a page out of a commissioned album I am working on. I stamped directly on the canvas and stuck it straight onto the page. I bet it would look really cool to paint on the canvas first, then stamp!
If anyone else has worked with this Studio line, please share your creations with us!
Have a wonderful, creative week all!

Congratulations Kim! You had the most votes in the Scrap Your Birthday contest and you also won the $5.00 coupon good toward a kit in the VP store.
I look forward to seeing the entries for this weeks challenge! I am working on my name page now.
Ready for you first BOM challenge?? :) I figured I would keep this one easy peasy for our first time around. This challenge also makes for a great first page of BOM album.
This weeks challenge is all about YOUR name. Is there a special story behind your name? Did you inherit your name? What does it mean? How do you feel about your name? Create a LO sharing anything and everything about your name
Here's my example ( sorry about the crummy pic. It just won't seem to get sunny around here) :
