Hey everyone!! What does everyone think of the June kit so far? Pretty awesome, uh?! Has anyone got theirs in the mail yet?
So, Jess has been helping me get more stamping ideas together for you guys. Here is what she had to say about this technique:
Stamping does not have to be intimidating! For one thing, it doesn’t have to be perfect. I think that is where the intimidation comes in. So many of you are probably trying to get your pages to look “Perfect”. While that is fine, b/c that is your personality, don’t worry if it isn’t exactly perfect. I am gonna quote one of my favorite life artists, Ali Edwards
(“Embrace Imperfection”). It will not matter that your pages aren’t perfect, or that there are flaws on them. When people look back at our layouts and albums they will not care that the ink is smudged here and not dark at all in another spot. They will care about the pictures of their loved ones and the stories to go along with them!!
In this first example, I stamped a word background onto my paper. While some of the images are darker and some are lighter, I really love the look of it. It isn’t perfect, but it is real.

This background paper I made looks a little more crisp, and I colored in the stamps on one set of houses to make it stand out. My purpose was to use this background paper for a theme of standing out and being yourself. Not to follow the trends just because they are trends. But to do what you love.

The difference in these papers is great. While the first one looks more artsy and the second looks more clean, neither of them is perfect. But I think they both look pretty good, despite their imperfections. I hope you remember this the next time you stamp an image on your layouts and think it doesn’t look “PERFECT.”
I’m sure most of you have seen my embellishments that I put up for sale in my etsy shop. These are simply stamped. I took the tie-dyed fabric and stamped by images directly onto the fabric. Then I added the black fabric on the back to make the colors pop. So simple and easy!

These notecards were also made for my etsy shop, and I stamped the images and then detailed them by coloring them in with my glitter pens from Sakura. While these took a little more time and effort, I really love the details of the colors.

I hope this helps to realize that stamping does not have to be intimidating and serves as an example of different things you can do. Just have fun with it! And I bet anyone who looks at your creations will love them!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us, Jess!!
Happy stamping all! :D

Here is Greta's winning All That Glitters layout:

Here at VP we just get tickled when we find cool products made in the U.S. Well you can imagine my excitement when I found out a product I've been eyeing is made here. And to top that off, our very own Danielle Wycough is on their design team! The product I'm talking about is Shimmerz.

Danielle was cool enough to share some info and examples made with Shimmerz:
If you love to add a little shimmer, or some glitz to your paper craft projects, then Shimmerz might just be what you need. They are non-toxic, water based, and fantastically Shimmery. Plus, they are made in the USA! Shimmerz and Blingz are products in little jars of pure yumminess. They add a fantastic mix of color and glitz to your projects. You use can use Shimmerz or Blingz with a paint brush. Shimmerz is just the right amount to make a project shimmer, but Blingz are like Shimmerz with the Bling! Shimmerz has recently produced the best, most delicious spray on the market, Spritz. Each product is very simple to use, but I am going to share some tips, tricks and techniques that will help bring out the best of Shimmerz on your projects.
Shimmerz and Blingz, both come in little jars. They will need some really good shaking up, and an occasional stirring with a toothpick to mix it all up. I use a paint brush and paint over paper, chipboard, metal, plastic, fabric, ribbon, and my favorite, Flowers. I like to use two coats to get the full effect. You paint over your items just like you would with any other paint. Let it completely dry, and adhere it to your project for a magnificent Shimmer.
Spritz is an amazing new product! Saying that I love it, is truly an understatement. I have sprayed paper, flowers, embellishments, ribbon, burlap, lace, you name it. With Spritz, you want to make sure that you shake it up really well. What I do is shake and pat it against my hand. Then once you are ready to Spritz, there are a few different techniques you can use. You can spray about 2 feet back for just a slight misting of Spritz. The closer you get, the more it will ‘puddle up’ and give a more intense color. A couple of really big tips are that when spraying; make sure that you do not let the front of your finger hang over the nozzle. Doing so will allow the Spritz to catch your finger and drizzle down the nozzle. You won’t get the best effect if you do this. Also, when you get done Spritzing, make sure that you remove the nozzle and clean it really well. Let it air dry. This will prevent it from becoming clogged.
With 70 options, you will definitely find what you need for that special project, or for everyday use. Here are some different items and projects that I have made using Shimmerz, Blingz, and Spritz. For more information you can go to www.shimmerzpaints.com or for some ideas and more tips www.shimmerzpaints.blogspot.com to check out our blog and our fabulous Design Team.

Now here's the best part!! Head over to the Shimmerz website and find your favorite color. Come back here and share it with us in the post and on Friday three lucky gals will win a bottle of new Shimmerz Spritz!
Thanks Danielle for sharing a very cool product with us!
Ok, peeps! What are you thinking of the June Kit so far? Pretty awesome, eh?!! I mean look at all the layouts Jess cranked out! Girl, you are awesome!!! Also, check out what Greta did with some of the "scraps"...so amazing!! (and I am scraplifting that one. heeee)
There is so many things you can create!!
Sooooo...I wanted to show you guys a simple technique, one most of you probably know about or have seen before...but if you haven't done it in a while...this month is the perfect time to try it or do it again!!
~~~
Get the alphabet out of your soup and spell what you need.
I put a little bit of tape on the back and stick it to my VP packaging to keep it from moving. just a little, though.. Then I paint on top. Quick, light coat...nothing special. (but keep in mind, it will become more shiny and vibrant when you get done)
Let it dry, then I got one of my decorative pins (that I never use.lol) and made polka dots on the letters.
Then, I let that dry. And added a coat of Ranger's Glossy Accents and let that dry. Then take it off the packaging to add to your layout. At this point, even if some of the paper comes up with the letter, it should only be a little bit. You can pull it off (pulling from the front of the letter to the back).
Now change it up...do some stripes..do some leopard print...do whatever! But, I want to see it!! heee
Happy Creating!
